Yealink BH72 Teams Bluetooth Headset With Charging Stand

The Yealink BH72 Teams Bluetooth Headset offers dual connectivity, stereo sound, and unique features like a retractable microphone and wireless charging. It is Microsoft Teams certified and provides a comfortable design for extended use. However, users need to consider its potential wind sensitivity, the non-adjustable mic boom, and the fiddliness of the mute button. The BH72 is suitable for office use and provides a good balance of features for users seeking a Teams-certified Bluetooth headset. Regular firmware updates are recommended for optimal performance. What We Love

• All variants are Microsoft Teams certified, which gives you some extra features when using MS Teams. It is still compatible with other softphones, such as Zoom.
• Optional wireless charging stand with a Qi wireless charging base. Looks snazzy and is a great place to hang your headset at your desk to keep it charged.

What We Don't Love

• The microphone boom is a bit short, so won't be as effective as one that reaches all the way to your lips. 

In Detail

The Yealink BH72 Headset series connect to PC/Laptop via USB dongle and direct Bluetooth (BT) to mobile phone. If you have a Bluetooth or USB capable desk phone, you may also be able to connect to that. The BH72 can maintain 2 connections simultaniously  eg mobile + USB dongle or BT to desk phone + BT to mobile. If using with a PC/Laptop do use the dongle -  it gives a reliable connection, better quality sound and better range. The charging base requires AC power bit you can also plug the headset into USB-A to charge.

How does it work?  The headset pairs directly to your mobile. It also connects to the USB dongle which plugs into your PC/Laptop. If you have a desk phone that can connect via USB or Bluetooth you may be able to use this headset with that phone, it will use one of the 2 live connections, though.  The headsets stays connected to 2 bluetooth devices at the same time and remembers up to 8 devices for quick reconnection.

Wireless charging  The Qi Charging base means you can just sit the headset on the base to charge and if your mobile has Qicharging it will also work with that. When not charging you can just hang it on the the conventient (and really very smart!) stand.

What your caller hears  Although the microphone boom on this headset is fairly  short (only 4.5cm) it's still pretty good at blocking out the nosie around you for your caller.

Rock out between calls  As you're connected to both mobile and PC at the same time (unless you connect to the deskphone) you can listen to music between calls. The BH72 supports 'dynamic EQ' so it will seamlessly switch between the best music playing or voice calls technology so you get great sound no matter how you use it.

Comfort  The headband is nicely cushioned and ear cushions are pretty standard with leatherette cushions which do help to block out background noise somewhat (this depends on your ears of course!). It should be comfortable for most people to wear for reasonable periods.

Push in microphone  This is an unusal design feature; the mic is short (well under 5cm) and rigid. In between calls you can push the mic in so only about 5mm is showing, then when you get a call put the mic out to answer the call (or use the multifunction button, but that's a bit fiddly).  Push the mic in to mute the call.  The short mic boom only reaches to mid cheek at best and it can't be moved up or down.  If you're in a noisy environment this may not be your best option as it lets more of the background noise into the mic. Also if you're not a careful headset user, you might break the mic boom over time.

Support  Yealink don't offer end user support. We're happy to help but more complex issues may take longer to resolve as a result. 

Office Test

We did a quick 'n' dirty test  in the office via mobile phone, comparing a bunch of Bluetooth headsets. By NO means scientific!

The Yealink BH72's results...

The mic let in some background noise about 2-3/5 was the score (scale was 0- nope can't hear a thing, are you in a vault?  to 5 - woohoo, lets all rock out to Ed Sheeran!). 

We used a desk fan to mimic outdoor conditions & found it let a lot of wind in.  So no walking on the beach pretending you're slaving away in the office when you use this one!
